Approved Providers of Continuing Nursing Education

The Nebraska Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

The Nebraska Nurses Association endorses the concept of planned nursing education as a means by which nurses maintain current knowledge and advances in the discipline of nursing; also to meet standards of practice developed within the nursing profession.  Continuing nursing education consists of "Systematic professional learning experiences designed to augment the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of nurses and therefore enrich the nurses’ contributions to quality health care and their pursuit of professional career goals" (Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing Professional Development, ANA, 2000).

Using criteria developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the NNA Continuing Education Approval Committee (CEAC) provides a system of peer review to judge and attest to the quality of organizations to function as approved providers.
